Established in 1932 by members of Northampton & County AC and Kettering Town Harriers, a mandate was established to oversee Athletics in the County of Northamptonshire.
From these small beginnings, the Association has grown , so much so, there are currently fourteen organisations involved in athletics affiliated to the County governing body.
With the improvement of standards in both performances and facilities, an ongoing development plan is in place, and coaching in all disciplines is proving to be an integral part of the plans in place.
As a County governing body, affiliated to UK Athletics and England Athletics-East Midlands, there is a continuing theme of County promotions, including Track and Field Championships, Cross Country Championships, and in addition the Chairman’s Cup, One mile Championships and Sportshall Athletics for younger athletes.
With a formal Constitution in place, the Association is committed to the promotion of Athletics for the benefit of the community and the development of talent from within the County.
A Management Committee meets on a monthly basis, with delegates from all the affiliated organisations participating, addressing all matters relating to the sport, with a commitment to address all aspects relative to the well being and advancement of all the interested parties. To assist in this direction , a partnership exists with NSport , a sports based department of Northamptonshire County Council.
